Greetings,
I am David Garrett Jr. and I am running as a Republican for State Representative, District 18, in 2010. I am new to the Republican party and embrace the Republican Philosophy, but disagree on many issues with the neo-conservatives that have taken over.
I believe in individual rights, less taxes, less government and respecting the views of others. I believe that the Republican party has lost a lot of respect in the past 9 years and I hope to restore faith in them.
The true purpose of a Representative government is to vote for someone who will represent the views of the people he/she serves. A true Republican is for smaller government, not just federal, but local as well without excluding the opinions of the minority.
Local county and city governments should be self sufficient and not have to rely on the state, but sometimes they do. And I am running for a state level position to ensure that all Tennesseans, especially District 18, receive their fair share of the tax dollars they give and make sure the money is spent wisely and efficiently.
The bottom line is that the Republican Party no longer represents the people. It is time to take it back.
